编者按：2024年9月22日~24日，第20届世界食管疾病大会（ISDE）在苏格兰爱丁堡盛大召开。在大会现场，《肿瘤瞭望消化时讯》对ISDE候任主席、加拿大魁北克省蒙特利尔综合医院Lorenzo Ferri教授针对ISDE未来发展方向及大会议题设置重点进行了专访。现将内容整理如下，以飨读者。

肿瘤瞭望消化时讯：作为ISDE的候任主席，您认为大会的主要目标是什么？您计划如何应对食管疾病领域的新兴挑战？

Oncology Frontier: As the President-elect of ISDE, what are your key objectives for shaping the future direction of the conference, and how do you plan to address emerging challenges in the field of esophageal diseases?

Lorenzo Ferri教授：我认为ISDE的核心目标，是确保能够吸引到广泛的临床医生和科学家参与，与他们共同关注食管疾病的各个领域。我们一直致力于将ISDE打造为一个超越地域界限的平台，让全球的肿瘤学家、外科医生、胃肠病学家、病理学家及放射肿瘤学家等各界专家能够齐聚一堂，共襄盛举。
因此，在接下来的任期内，我们的首要任务是确保全球范围内各学科的专家都能积极参与进来，形成强大的合力，共同为食管和上消化道疾病的重要议题贡献智慧与力量。我们期待看到，在ISDE的平台上，所有专家能够面对面交流，共同探讨影响食管和上消化道健康的关键问题，携手推动该领域的研究与治疗迈向新的高度。

Prof. Lorenzo Ferri: I think our goal for the ISDE, of the International Society of Diseases Esophagus is really to make sure that we have a broad representation of clinicians and scientists all interested in all diseases of the esophagus. We want to make sure that it's not just a regional meeting, but also a meeting that engages oncologists, surgeons, gastroenterologists, pathologists, radiation oncologists, all coming together from  across the globe. So what's really vital, what we want to do during the next term, is to make sure we have engagement from all these disciplines from all over the world. So we have to make sure that we have strength in numbers from Europe, from Asia, from South America, North America and Africa. We want to make sure everyone is in the same room discussing about important diseases that affect the esophagus and upper GI tract.

肿瘤瞭望消化时讯：在未来几年中，您认为哪些新的主题或创新研究会纳入会议议程，这些新增内容将如何增强会议对该领域的影响？

Oncology Frontier: What new topics or innovations do you envision incorporating into the conference agenda in the coming years, and how will these additions enhance the conference’s impact on the field?

Lorenzo Ferri教授：近年来，食管疾病治疗领域已经取得了显著的进步，不管是对良性的食管疾病比如嗜酸性食管炎还是恶性的食管肿瘤，我们都已经有了深入的了解。目前我认为，我们需要深入聚焦及迫切想要了解的是针对这些疾病的新型治疗方法，所以我们期待未来在ISDE大会上可以看到更多这方面的研究。
此外，在食管腺癌和食管鳞状细胞癌中，新型生物标志物的发现正在引领我们开发新的药物，以更有效地对抗这些恶性肿瘤。相关研究数据呈现爆炸式增长，这也预示着食管癌的治疗方式正在经历着深刻变革，相信未来我们一定会看到食管癌治疗取得重大进步。
我们本届会议的目标是确保医疗肿瘤学家、外科肿瘤学家和放射肿瘤学家在食管癌治疗领域发挥更广泛的作用。在未来我任期的ISDE两次会议中，我期待能够全面深入地探讨生物标志物导向治疗的相关议题。

Prof. Lorenzo Ferri: I think what's really important, what we really want to focus on, although we covered esophageal diseases, malignant and benign, I think the area that's really expanded and really moved forward in the past few years is the emergence of novel therapeutics for benign disease, such as eosinophilic esophagitis, but particularly for cancer. There are emerging biomarkers in both esophageal adenocarcinoma and esophageal squamous cell carcinoma that are helping us design new drugs to help treat these malignancies. And I do see an explosion of data, and that is going to impact the way, and impact the way we treat esophagus cancer.

And my goal in this meeting is to make sure that we expand the role of medical oncologists and surgical oncologists and radiation oncologists in this field.And I expect to have complete sessions on biomarker directed therapy over the next two meetings.

肿瘤瞭望消化时讯：作为候任主席，您计划如何利用自己的研究和临床经验来打造ISDE会议的内容？

Oncology Frontier: How do you plan to leverage your own research and clinical experience to influence the content and focus of ISDE conferences during your tenure as President-elect and beyond?

Lorenzo Ferri教授：我并不希望仅仅局限于我所掌握的知识，而是希望能够积极融汇食管疾病领域内其他学者的见解与智慧。因此，我会努力将个人兴趣与社会的广泛需求区分开来，以更开放的姿态进行学习。

未来，我认为肿瘤学是亟需我们深入拓展的领域。因为未来3~5年内，该领域必将迎来更多新兴治疗方法和技术。而在这其中，我个人的经验和贡献相对而言显得较为次要。我更看重的是，如何推动整个社会在这个领域不断进步。

Prof. Lorenzo Ferri: It is an important point. I do not want to limit the content to what I know. I want to learn what other people know as well. So I'm actually going to try to separate my own interests away from the society's interests. I do think the areas that we want to expand on really is Oncology, because there is so much new emergent new therapeutics that are coming out over the next three to five years. So my own personal experience is less important to me than making sure that society on its own grows and not limited to what I do.
